The Highland North Wind Farm is located in the townships of Adams and Summerhill, Pennsylvania. The turbines are situated on mixed use land owned by both public and private landowners. Construction began in the Spring of 2011, and the farm became operational in early 2012. The project uses 30 Nordex N100 turbine generators manufactured in Arkansas, each with a nameplate rating of 2.5 MW. In total, the Highland North Wind Farm generates enough electricity to power approximately 18,000 homes annually.

Economic Benefits

  • Approximately $5.5 million in tax revenue to the state, local townships and Forest Hills School District over the life of the project
  • Over $3 million in local goods and services for operation and maintenance over the life of the project
