Constructing a wind farm is a large scale cooperative project involving contractors, sub-contractors, government officials, landowners and the general public. Before the project starts in the field, untold hours are spent insuring that the area surrounding the project is minimally impacted by the construction process. Contractors and vendors local to the area are sought and their credentials reviewed to insure that qualified local resources can be used to the maximum extent. The process includes building access roads, turbine foundations, and construction of electrical infrastructure to collect and distribute the energy being produced. The turbine components are shipped into the site and erected. Once the turbines are erected and commissioned, the project site is restored and wind farm operation begins.
